Setting up a Hover Domain

To setup your domain name from Hover to use Ghost follow the steps below.

Setting up your DNS

Hover has a tool known as "Hover Connect," which will allow you to easily setup your Hover domain with your Ghost(Pro) blog. To begin, log into your Hover account and go to your domains from the control panel.

Next, click Edit and select Use Hover Connect from the dropdown list.

Select Ghost(Pro) from the list of services available on Hover Connect.

Next, enter your Ghost(Pro) subdomain into the Site Name field, and click Connect.

Once connected, Hover.com will automatically create the necessary DNS records to link your domain with your Ghost(Pro) blog.

Redirect the Root Domain

In order to have the root domain work alongside the subdomain (i.e. yourdomain.com/ forward to www.yourdomain.com) you'll need to setup a forward. To do this, in your domain settings on Hover.com, click on Forwards.

Next, click Forward This Domain.

Select the root of your domain as the Forward Type, and enter in your subdomain as the forwarding to address.

Next, click Save Forward.

Finally, you'll need to update your blog settings to use your custom domain.

Update the Blog Settings

  1. Log in to your Ghost.org account.
  2. From the publications list, select the dropdown arrow next to Owner.
  3. Select Settings to access the blog settings.
  4. In the Custom Domain field, enter the domain you have configured your blog to use.
