Subscribers Beta

Note: Your theme must support subscribers to use this feature. You can view documentation on how to add the subscribers feature to your theme here. The default theme, Casper, has already been upgraded to support it.

The current version of subscribers does NOT send emails. This will come in a future version.

In Ghost 0.8, we’ve added ‘beta’ version of Subscribers. The new Subscribers feature allows you to capture email addresses on your blog, which can then be exported and imported. In future versions we’ll be adding tools for setting up regular email newsletters to be sent to this list, as well as much, much more.

What does ‘Beta’ mean?

In this case, we’re using the word ‘Beta’ to indicate that this is early access to an incomplete feature. You should expect that it won’t always work correctly and that it may change in breaking ways. So please don’t use it in production or on a blog where you care that everything works correctly.

Why does the Subscriber feature need a ‘Beta’ phase?

The functionality we’ve added to Ghost to support Subscribers is new and hasn’t been tested by many users or theme developers. We’re using the Beta phase to collect feedback on the feature, and make changes to make things as intuitive and easy to use as we can. If you try out the feature, please leave us feedback either on our slack team page or email support@ghost.org – your feedback is very important to help us remove the ‘Beta’ label from these features.

If the import was successful, Ghost will out put how many subscribers were added, how many duplicates there were, and how many email addresses were invalid.
